Our story

CSM3K focuses on working with small businesses to help them take maximum advantage of their website. We support an approach that is based on the Growth-Driven Design process of continuous improvement. Our main focus is helping companies create the content that they need for their website to become successful.

Our values

All of our services come with a straightforward price and no contracts. Although most of our services are provided as an ongoing monthly service, there are no contracts. You pay for what you want and nothing more.

Our history

Over 20 years experience in building websites for businesses and organizations large and small gives us the experience to help you get the most value possible out of your website. 

Asynchronous communication

Boost your team’s productivity by learning how to successfully implement and use asynchronous communication.

More businesses understanding the value of remote and decentralized workforce is one good result to come from the outrageous actions by governments around the world over the past three years. Having a remote team can work for many business and job types and it can drastically reduce overhead. Part of the reason that we can provide our level of service at the prices we do is because we don't have the overhead of an office. We still value realtime collaboration and find that we can use tools like Miro and Google Meet to have meetings that are in some ways superior to co-location. 

Slack has helped many businesses communicate more effectively and they have put together a resource of asynchronous communication "best practices" based on what they have learned over time.

Remember:

  • Communication that does not happen in real time is asynchronous
  • Asynchronous communication solves numerous problems in the workplace
  • Make a habit of being extremely transparent with everyone on your team

With over 20 years of experience in web development I have worked with Small businesses and Fortune 100 companies. Now I am focusing on developing effective strategies and content that help make small business websites more effective.

Illustration & Animation

I am a multi-media artist, illustrator and animator. I have spent the last 10 years in NYC building sets for television and museum shows and was ready for a change. Now I am focusing on creating bespoke animations and illustrations for small business looking to bring their brand to life.

We value your time as much as we value our own

Hopefully you would agree that nobody likes to waste time. Especially with low value meetings and random phone calls.

 
Let's be honest, we might not have the same ideas about how best to communicate. We have strong opinions about how best to communicate when working on a project. Not wasting time from bad communications is another way that we can keep our cost low.

So what does that mean? Well, we don't expect our clients to shape themselves to us and we don't shape ourselves to our clients. So how does that work? We like to get to know the people that we are going to be working with so that we can make sure that we share the same business values. We think that sharing a similar business culture, especially when it comes to communications, is one of the biggest drivers in producing great work at a great value. In other words, working together depends on good communication.

  • We never expect immediate responses to a message.
  • We highly value realtime collaboration.
  • Shared expectations and clear next steps go a long way towards producing great work.

Our culture

We are a discreet partner. We do all of our work in-house. We value asynchronous communication and take full advantage of it. We value realtime meetings when they are appropriate. We have fixed price packages that represent a sound value.

What About Using the Same Tools?

We love diversity but consistency and simplicity are valuable as well.

Equipment and software can also have a large impact on being able to successfully work together. For some projects the only thing needed is to exchange information with email and a document attachment. However in most cases there is more interaction required. Sharing, reviewing and approving documents using Google Docs can save enormous amounts of time hunting through emails looking for the "latest" version of the document needing approval from you. Not time well spent. To this end we find that the more overlap we have in the tools that we use to communicate with those we are working with. The less time that is spent in translation and training. 

 

Some of our current tools are Google Workspace, Adobe Creative Cloud, Slack, Miro and HubSpot.

  • Interoperability facilitates speed and quality
  • To gain maximum value from any work you must reduce friction and waste
  • We are happy to help train your team on using any of the tools that we recommend and use ourselves.
